Use This Productivity “Hack” To Get More DONE in LESS Time!

We all get the same 24 hours in a day.

So have you ever wondered some people are able to utilize the time THEY get far more efficiently and earn exponentially more money on a monthly, weekly, and even daily basis?

This is something I’ve always been obsessed with and spent the better part of a decade studying.

I’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on books, seminars, traveling the country to meet with mentors and other wealthy people so I could get to the bottom of it.

I’m glad to say I’ve found the answer …

In fact, I used what I learned to master productivity, and this has been a big part of the reason why I’ve been able to become a millionaire by the time I hit 30.

I’m writing this article because I want to share with you the single most important “hack” that has helped me the most!

Basically, this one strategy has made it so that I only focus on the things that matter … the things that move the needle forward, the things that “ring the register” so to speak, and help me make serious progress on all my goals.

You won’t find this in some productivity or time-management book … and you don’t need yet another “to-do” list or planner.

When you implement this one “hack” I’m about to share with you, in 90 days, you’ll wake up as someone who is twice as productive as you are today.

Alright… Are you ready??

Let’s do THIS!!

My Favorite Book And Why It Matters To You

One of my favorite books is 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Inside, Stephen Covey talks about how you have to put the big rocks in your day FIRST … or else they won’t go in…

To demonstrate this, he takes a big fish tank that’s sitting on a table. It’s totally empty and on the table, he’s got some big rock, some smaller rocks, some pebbles, and some sand.

He starts by pouring the sand in the tank. Then he puts in the little pebbles and smaller rocks. When the time comes to put in the bigger rocks, the tank’s full and he can’t fit them in.

Then he repeats the demonstration with the tank empty – except this time he takes the big rocks and puts them in the tank first.

Then he takes the smaller rocks and fits them around the big rocks. Then he takes the tiny pebbles and puts them in. And finally, he pours in the sand, which fills in the cracks.

Nor surprisingly, doing things this way means he was able to fit everything in the tank.

Your life is like that fish tank. You’ve got to put in the big rocks FIRST – or else they’ll never go in.

But here’s what’s interesting about those big rocks …

Your Big Rocks Have To Be Chosen In Advance

In other words, you must identify what your most valuable activities are, and then install them in your day ahead of time.

This is critical.

If you don’t, other people will have things for you to do. Other people will take your valuable focus and attention.

And I can almost guarantee that what they have in mind for you is less important to what YOU want to accomplish (even though it all may be urgent).

The Value Of Your Actions

Now, one of the single biggest mistakes that people (especially business owners) make when figuring out what to do each day is getting into actions without knowing what the value of the action is to them.

They also don’t know what the value of an action to them is long-term – so they ultimately don’t know the difference between an activity that’s only going to give a little bit in the way of results (or a little bit of money)…

… and an activity that will give them bigger results, increase the value of their business and pay them dividends and profits for the long-term.

Can you relate to this? At times, I sure can…

For most of us, we haven’t gotten crystal clear on the handful of activities that bring us the highest returns … and that profit us the most.

And that’s where you can get the most leverage and where to focus.

When you organize your days, your weeks, and your life around making sure you get only the highest-leverage activities done – because if they get done, you create value, and the value creates money, income, and more time freedom.

That’s why I want to introduce you to a “hack” my mentor Eben designed that you can use to focus on the highest-return, money-making activities that you do, so you can focus on them as much as possible.

This is the same “hack” I use to organize my life and what I focus on each day, week and month.

The Productivity Pyramid

Not all activities we do are created equal. The productivity pyramid will show you how to pinpoint the highest value, highest return money-making activities that you do, so you can focus on them with your attention and time. Understanding this is a game-changer in terms of how you will organize your life and work.

Here’s how it works …

Take a look at the first level of the pyramid.

That level is zero, or negative value activities.

This is the time you spend wasting on things that don’t bring any value and oftentimes actually take your energy and attention away from you.

Next, going up a level on the pyramid you have the low-dollar per hour or low-value activities.

These are things that bring you a low-dollar per hour return – things like shopping, checking the mail, running errands – that kind of stuff.

It’s stuff that needs to get done but could easily be outsourced for a few dollars per hour.

The next level up on the pyramid is high dollar per hour time or high-value activities.

These are activities that bring you a high return on your time invested immediately.

This could be things like talking to customers … doing sales … working on some marketing copy … etc.

It brings you money right now and it’s high dollar per hour value because to outsource it would cost a high dollar-per-hour rate.

Finally, the highest level on the pyramid is what we call high lifetime value.

These are activities that pay you for the long-term. They keep paying dividends on and on for years, decades, sometimes even for life.

Some activities that fit this category could include working on investing, hiring someone that’ll build your business, or working on your health. Ultimately these are important (but not urgent) activities that will pay you for life.

So to summarize we have:

  1. Zero value, zero-dollar activities
  2. Low value, low-dollar activities
  3. High value, high-dollar activities
  4. High lifetime value activities

Now, here’s the key with the Productivity Pyramid…

By identifying exactly which activities bring you the most value, you can begin making those the highest priority to do each day.

Those can become the big rocks, which then starts the cycle of bringing you better results, more success, and higher income (which in turn gives you more energy to keep doing this system).

This is why inside of my real estate business for example what I spend most of my time doing is finding and negotiating new deals. Finding a new property to invest in is a very high lifetime value activity because a new investment is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to me in the long term.

I have a property manager who I pay a small fee to and she is responsible for all the day to day logistical and administrative tasks, which are much lower value.

This is how I’m able to spend an hour or two a day on the HIGH-value activities and produce amazing results.

Now that you understand how the Productivity Pyramid works, it’s time to do one yourself and identify those actions that you take in your life and business that bring you the big results.

Start by identifying the activities you do each day that fit into the four categories I just showed you:

  1. Zero value, zero-dollar activities
  2. Low value, low-dollar activities
  3. High value, high-dollar activities
  4. High lifetime value activities

Once you have identified the “High Lifetime Value” and “High Dollar Per Hour Value” activities in your life, arrange your days so that you do those activities first – in order to create the most value, and create the most success for yourself.

Tip: “Steal” time from your “Low Dollar Value” and “Zero Or Negative Value” activities, and invest it in the higher-value work in your life and business. This is a fast way to increase your productivity in a big way.

So there you have it.

Use this hack for the next 30 days and I GUARANTEE you’ll be a LOT more productive, feel a lot less stress, and finally feel in “control” of your life and you’ll be amazed at the progress you make on the things that MATTER to you!
